A further step in the winding-up of the Occidental-Una, Limited, Goldmining Company was taken at the Warden’s Court last week, when the company was granted three months protection to enable the liquidator to dispose of the assets. A wages man raised an objection, but withdrew it • after having the position explained to him. * * * The Tapu-Coroglen road from Thames to Mercury Bay is not in a passable condition for the average motorist, and chains are a necessity. Brother Jack Grart was installed as N.G. of the Loyal Thames Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., at its quarterly meeting, ar.d installation night. He succeeded Sister E. Briggs, whose services to the order were recognised by the presentation of a framed emblem and a certicate entitling her to the purple degree. Her name is also to be added to the lodge’s merit board. The newly elected officers were installed by the Lecture Master. Bro. P. L. Jenkin, P.E., with Bro. J. E. L. Strange as conductor. The officers were:—Noble Grand, Bro. J. Grant; Vice Grand, Sister R. E. Corrin; election secretary, Bro. G. C. McLeod; T.P.N.G.. Bro. J. L. Hardman; R.S.N.G., Bro. P. L. Jenkin, P.E.; L.S.N.G., Sister E. Briggs, P.G: R.S.V.G.. Bro. H. Lonkln, P.E.; L.S.P.G.. Sister Estcourt; guardian, Bro. H. Crosbie; warfrh den, Bro. L. M. Estcourt; conductor, Bro. J. Strange. The social activities, always nr© of the lodge, will be carried on durfciß th© winter.
