GIFT TO THE BLIND
THEIR EXCELLENCIES’ GENEROSITY CHIMING CLOCK A "Westminster chiming clock in mahogany, which lias been presentee! to the Jubilee Institute for the Blind by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Rady Bledisloe, will fill a longfelt want in the institution, besides being a handsome addition to the gifts to the home. The gift followed upon a recent visit_ which their Excellencies paid to the institute, and arrived on Saturday. On that occasion the viceRegal visitors showed deep interest in the work of the institute, and expressed a desire to present the home with some memento of that event. Their Excellencies announced they would at all times endeavour to promote the development of the institute’s work. A number of basketware purchases were made by the visitors, who also gave the institute band engagements for Government House functions. The central chiming clock given by their Excellencies will be placed in the main building, and will assist blind inmates to set their Braille watches, besides setting a standard for all departments.
