QUEEN MARY’S BIRTHDAY
EMPIRE OBSERVA’'. ’ r TODAY GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S MESSAGE Queen Mary celebrates her 63rd birthday today. Tho day will be observed throughout the Empire. The warships in port in Auckland were dressed with flags and a Royal salute of 21 guns was fired at noon. Flags were also flown from the public and main buildings in the city. The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe. has dispatched the following mesi sage to the Queen: “The Government j and people of this Dominion join with lmo in tendering to your Majesty respectful congratulations and good j wishes on the occasion of your Majes- ! ty’s birthday.”
