EMPRESS, NEWTON

“Their Own Desire,” the talkie drama, starring Norma Shearer is now at the Empress Theatre, Newton. The story concerns itself w r ith a girl whose attitude toward life has been embittered through the lack of material congeniality between her father and mother. When she comes upon her father in the arms of another woman she takes her mother’s side, and the two go away to a resort in the hope that a prolonged absence will eventually clear up things. Instead of being cleared, the problem becomes almost helplessly entangled when the daughter falls ln love with a young man, who subsequently turns out to be the son of “the other woman.” The unwinding of the complications makes for sufficient interest to satisfy the most hardened movie-goer.
