MRS. GROOMBRIDGE ROBINSON Mrs. Groombridge Robinson, who died at her residence in Huia Street, Devonport, yesterday, was born in Auckland in 1859. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Keven, who lived for some years at Thames. In 1882 she married Mr. Robinson, and three years later she and her husband took up residence Devonport, where, they had resided since. Besides her husband, Mrs. Robinson leaves four daughters, Mesdames J. W. Roope, E. Roscoe, W. Callaway and Miss A. Robinson, all of^Auckland; and one son, Mr. G. Robinson, of Rotorua. MRS. J. M. BARKLEY An old resident, Mrs. Janet Mary Barkley, died at her home in Claudelands on Wednesday. Mrs. Barkley was born in Ireland, and came to New' Zealand as a child. She married Mr. Barkley 52 years ago, spending her early married life on the West Coast. Later they lived at Manurewa, Matangi and Walton. Mr. and Mrs. Barkley moved to Hamilton two years ago.
Mrs. Barkley is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. ~R. F. Haycock, of Devonport, and Miss L. C. Barkley ,of Hamilton, and by one son. Mr. R. Barkley, of Walton. MR. HENRY TINDALL The death has occurred at Matakana of another pioneer, Mr. Henry Hustler Tindall, at the age of 87. Coming to New* Zealand in 1865 on the ship Caduceus. Mr. Tind;.ll m irked on the railway that was beL.g built from Newmarket. He went to Thames during the gold rush, and in IS7O took up land at Matakana, where he had lived ever since. An ardent churchman, he opened a Sunday school in the district, conducting it for 50 years. Mrs. Tindall died 15 years ago, and four years later, at the age of 76. Mr. Tindall went Home, unaccompanied, to see his friends and relatives in Vorkshire. There are nine children and 20 grandchildren.
MRS. W. SUMMERVILLE The death of Mrs. Margaret Summerville. aged 84, an early resident of the Patumahoe district, occurred at Pukekohe on Thursday. Mrs. Summerville. wife of the late Mr. John Summerville, was one of the original settlers of the district, but of recent years had resided at Pukekohe. She is survived by four sons, Mr. W. Summerville. Waiuku; Mr. A. Summerville. Kariotahi: Mr. J. Sunfmerville, Cambridge: Mr. R. Summerville, Auckland: and four daughters, Mrs. H. Barber, Hamilton: Mrs. S. Salisbury. Hamilton: Mrs. E. West, Matamata: and Mrs. G. Hart, Pukekohe. There are 22 grandchildren and lu great - grandchildren.
