SELLING OTHER MAN'S OVERCOAT PUNISHED FOR THEFT Appearing at the Police Court this morning for sentence on a charge of the:ft, David Asher, a labourer, aged 19, was committed to Waikeria for 12 months’ reformative detention. Sub-Inspector Shanahan reminded tho court that Asher had said he gave away another man’s coat but could not remember to whom he had given it % It now appeared that he had made several attempts to sell it, first for 30s and then for 10s. Finally one of Asher’s friends had takin the coat away to sell it for him, but became suspicious and handed it in to the police station. The probation officer, Mr. W. J. Campbell, said accused had been in custody a week. He had been on licence but gave his mother a great deal of trouble. Waikeria was the best place for him.
