The rapid success of C. C. Dacre, who started off his county cricket career with a century for Gloucestershire against Oxford this week, will be gratifying to “Ces’s” many friends in Auckland. A Devonport boy, Dacre had represented New Zealand at both cricket and Soccer, prior to his departure for England a couple of years ago. Under the residential clause which applies to overseas cricketers going to England, he had to reside for two years in Gloucestershire before he became eligible for county cricket. Dacre is in his 30th year, and should be good for many years’ cricket yet.
