Ex-Service Women

FUNCTION TO RAISE FUNDS FOR UNEMPLOYED EX-SERVICEMEN 1 ENJOYABLE BRIDGE EVENING In the Officers’ Club rooms last evening the Auckland Ex-Service-women's Association held a bridge evening in order to obtain funds to assist the wives and families of ex-Servicemen who are unemployed. Mrs. H. L. Gould, in welcoming those present, thanked them for supporting this annual effort of the association. General Sir George Richardson, president of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, spoke of the good work which the Ex-Servicewomen’s Association was doing and also thanked those present for the help they were giving. Colonel Dawson also spoke and said it was a good work and hoped they would continue to support such a worthy cause, as there was a great deal of hardship and distress among the ex-Servicemen in Auckland owing to unemployment.

Members of the committee: Mrs. H. L. Gould, president, who wore crushed rose satin with gold lame embroidered in pastel shades; Mrs. R. T. Michaels, wearing a gown of black satin beaded in crimson and jet; Mrs. Ranfurly Smith, rose anti black floral ninon; Mrs. IV C. Webster, black silk marocain; Miss Dash, in pale grey crepe de chine and silver lace; Miss E. M. Ernest was wearing powder blue crepe <*e chine; Miss Stubbington, a frock of black fleuri relieved with a touch of red; Mrs. Mackesy, in black moire velvet relieved with beige; Miss Luxford, mist pink sprigged taffeta.
