LAW AND DICKENS
FELLOWSHIP ADDRESS Many of Dickens's lawyer characters were drawn from life, according to Mr. J. J. Sullivan, who gave an address at the fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Dickens Fellowshi jj last evening. There was a large attendance, and the president. Mrs. K. Gordon, was in the chair. Mr. Sullivan’s lecture dealt with the lawyer characters in Dickens’s books. These number about 40, and Mr. Sullivan gave brief sketches of them all. Some interesting details were given of the originals of those characters which were drawn from life. Appropriate readings by Messrs. Wolstencroft, W. E. Arev, J. W. Kealy, T. Vivian and T. Clarkson were given.
