RIALTO, NEWMARKET

“RIO RITA” -Rio Rita” continues its most successful season at the Rialto Theatre, Newmarket. This i*s the talking screen version of the popular musical comedy, embodying all the popular tunes such as “When You’re in Love You’ll Waltz,” “Rio Rita," and so on. Over half of the production is in colour, and some brilliant ballet dancing is introduced, as well as gorgeous costumes. The l'ole of Rita, played in Auckland by Gladys Moncrieff, is taken in the film by Bebe Daniels, whose glorious soprano voice, hitherto unsuspected, is heard singing all the well-known solos and duets. The role of Captain Jim is taken by John Boles, who will be remembered for his work in the screen version of “The Desert Song.” A full supporting programme is also being presented.
