DOUBLE CALENDAR

DIFFICULTIES OF RUSSIAN SYSTEM Retention of the old calendar for ordinary use in Russia and adoption of the five-day week and 360-wcrking-day year in factories, have caused many difficulties in the later institutions. So while scientific bodies continue to debate the new system, the Government has issued a temporary “production calendar” for those who work under the five-day week plan. Under this scheme, the workers in each factory operating on the new plan,, are divided into five groups. All members of a given group are “off” on the same day, those in group one staying away from work on the first day of each five-day week, those in group two taking the second day off and so on. ' The system was put into effect on April 1, and its sponsors sav it has simplified the day of rest problem, so that now each worker knows just when he can stay away from the factory without getting into, trouble.
