PAPATOETOE SPORTS GROUND
FURTHER CONFERENCE HELD A further conference of delegates representing the sports bodies of Papatoetoo and the Parks Committee of the I'apatoetoe Town Board was held this week. It was decided the sports bodies should continue to use the playing areas on the recreation ground for this season under the terms prevailing as the present time. It was further agreed That no winter sports would be played' on the ground next year. The Tot* Board will take over the ground and bring it up to a good playing condition when the clubs concerned will agree to pay the sum of £7 10s for each playing area for the season. ; It was recommended that the board j install floodlights to enable the ground tr» be used for evening sports. With the idea of assisting the Town Board to bring the ground up to date it was decided to hold a combined concert carnival in August, when some sparkling and novelty features will I* staged. Mr. W. T. Hindman, presides: of the Papatoetoe Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club has been appointed organiser. He has already begun th« arrangements for what he claims wuj be the biggest sports carnival yet heh in or around the suburban districts.
