WAIUKU DRAPER FEARED DROWNED.—At 11.30 last night a five-seater car was found suspended over the parapet of the bridge over the Tamaki River, south of Otahuhu. In the water below was found a man’s overcoat, and in the car some travellers’ samples and a bankbook bearing the name of Alexander Duthie, who is a draper of Waiuku. The pictures show, left: Dragging the Tamaki River this morning. Right: Repairing the gap where the car broke through the parapet. It came to rest against the telegraph post on the right.
