Essex, first innings go-t 231 (Pope 03, Russell 68), and in the second innings 130. Macaulay took four for IS. Yorkshire won by 132 runs.

Kent, first innings, got 212. Larwood took five for 34. Second innings, 158 (Woolley 61, Ames 62). Larwood, 5-34. Nottingham, first innings, lost seven for 467, declared (George Gunn 129, Walker 75, Barratt not out 65). Nottingham won by an innings and 97 runs. Somerset, first innings, got 195.
