NORTHCOTE WHARF

DANGEROUS AND INADEQUATE NEW STRUCTURE WANTED That the present wharf is inadequate for the needs of the district and is also dangerous, was stressed at the meeting of the Northcote Borough Council last evening by Cr. H. J. C. George. In view of the recent report by the Harbour Bridge Commission, Cr. George considered the time was opportune for the renewal of a request to the Auckland Harbour Board for this much-needed structure. Cr. F. Wilson was of the opinion that in view of the facilities for both passenger and vehicular traffic which had been recently erected at Devonport, it was a fair and reasonable request that the same be accorded Northcote. The wharf itself was in a dangerous state, while the Vehicular stage, owing to its position, was a detriment to the progress of the borough. Other councillors also supported the suggestion and the request will be forwarded to the Auckland Harbour Board for consideration.
