PLENTY OF ORANGES
CONSIGNMENT FROM ISLANDS A consignment of 16.000 cases of oranges, which arrived by the Union Company’s Island steamer Waipalii this morning, is the first direct shipment this year of Cook Island orantres The cargo is lor Auckland, Portland and Wellington. About 10,000 cases are to be discharged here, where oranges have not been very plentiful for some time, »r# that there should now be slightlv lower Prices for this fruit'. The Maui Pomare is bringing about 6,000 cases of Samoan bananas on Mon’dav. This shipment will be welcome, as a slight shortage of bananas has prevailed in the past few days.
Plentiful supplies of bananas and oranges are expected now until the end of season.
