GRAND’S NEW POLICY

“HIGH TREASON” ON FRIDAY An entirely new policy will be adopted by the popular Grand Theatre, Lower Queen Street from next Friday. From that date all the films presented there will be British in either origin or sentiment, a policy which is unique in the British Empire. Simultaneously, the name of the theatre will be changed to the "London.” The first of the new attractions will be a splendid all-British production entitled “High Treason.” The plot is a most unusual one, dealing with life in England in the year 1940, after another European war. The leading roles are played by Benita Hume and Jameson Thomas, both of whom are well known on the London stage. Dr. P. M. Marafioti, New York voice expert now working with MetroGold wyn-Mayer players as he did with stars at the Metropolitan Opera, says that picture folk are easier to teach speech to than other people. “The sense of timing or spacing their silent picture training gave them,” he says, “makes their speech far more understandable than those who speak fast without rhythm.”

Philo Vance and Sergeant Heath, screen-famous characters, made so by William Powell and Eugene Pallette, make their appearance in “The Benson Murder Case,” a recently com.pieted mystery talkie.
