CLOSER SETTLEMENT
THREE AUCKLAND ESTATES From Our Resident Reporter WELLINGTON, Today. The Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, announces the purchase by the Government of three properties for closer' settlement, making 15 subdivisions available. One area is part of a property known as Titoki, consisting of 224 acres, near Kaitaia, and owned by Spain, Brown 1 and Company, of Awanui North. The land is suitable for dairying and will be cut up into three farms. It will be thrown open for selection at the earliest possible moment. The following group selections have been acquired by the Government, subject to the conditions of the Dominion Land Purchase Board being complied with: The property, known as Whakata, comprising 506 acres, situated near Matakohe, owned by the estate of the late Mr. R. C. Smith. The land is suitable for dairying, and will provide six subdivisions. The area has been acquired on behalf of a group of settlers under part 11 of the Land Laws Amendments Act. Part of a property owned by Mr. V. H. Nolan, near Cambridge. The area is about 441 acres, suitable for dairying, and will provide five subdivisions.
