WITH ROD AND GUN

WAIHI SPORTSMEN MEET From Our Own Correspondent AVAIHI, Monday. The annual meeting of the Waihi Acclimatisation Club was held on Saturday evening, the president, Mr. W. H. Johnston, being in the chair. The secretary, Mr. G. A. Nisbet, reported that as the result of inquiries made it had been found that there had been an increase in the number ot pheasants in the areas within the boundary covered by the club. In connection with trout fishing, the usual number of fry had been received from the parent body, and members would be pleased to learn that the Auckland Society intended to pursue a vigorous policy of importing both suitable fisli and birds for liberation. The question of distinguishing between properties set apart as sanctuaries and properties on which persons with dog or gun were warned off, was raised by Mr. Ivan Lloyd, who stated there was a good deal of confusion about this matter. He asked if the club could take some steps to prevent property owners from indiscriminately posting their places as sanctuaries. Other members also referred to the subject, and the names of the following persons who were entitled to post their places as sanctuaries were given:—Messrs. C. Bjerring, M. Christensen, G. Hollis, A. Neilson and Haszurd Brothers. Trouble having arisen because portion of the Beach Road was the division between the districts of the Waihi and Tauranga Clubs, the position was discussed, and it was decided to have the question looked into with a view to having some decision that might prevent the present confusion. Officers were elected as follow; President, Mr. W. 11. Johnston; vicepresidents, Messrs. E. A. Wilson, E. H. Payze and J. W. MacDonald; Management Committee, Messrs. A. Sparke, W. F. Selling. T. R. C. Haszard and A. R. Rimmer: secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. A. Nisbet.
