A terrible tragedy is reported from Conway, where the wife of a farmer threw her baby girl, aged six months, into a river infested with alligators. No hope is held out for the recovery of the child’s body. The husband of the woman missed the child on his return from work, and his wife told him of her awful act. The husband rushed to the spot, but there was no trace of the infant. Alligators were basking on the bank. The woman had been in indifferent health since the birth of her child.
