NEW REGENT
“THE TRIAL OF MARY DUGAN” The splendid talkie drama, “The Trial of Mary Dugan,” is now in its second week at the New Regent Theatre. Many persons are familiar with the story of this court-room drama which made such an enormous success as a stage play. Bayard Veiller, who wrote and produced “The Trial of Mary Dugan” as a stage production, also directed the transference of his drama to the screen. Veiller, who at one time was the head of a large studio, seems to have a thorough knowledge of motion picture technique, and his talents as a playwright and stage director have never been questioned. He has done the work of putting this stage play on to the screen with infinite grace, and a fine sense for the full drama of every situation which arises during the course of Mary Dugan’s trial for murder. An excellent supporting programme of pictures and music is also being shown. The chief item on the excellent supporting programme will be the personal appearance of Titta Ruffo, the famous baritone, who will sing a bracket of songs.
