SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the South African War Veterans’ Association executive was held in the Returned Soldiers’ Association Rooms, Mr. T. P. Halpin, president, presiding. The recent report of the Returned Soldiers’ Commission was formally considered and it was resolved that the report be referred to the following committee:—Messrs. T. P. Halpin, E. G. Fraser, E. G. Bertram, W. G. Marks and J. F. Jackson. The committee will consider the report in detail and submit its views to the association for confirmation. If adopted the recommendations will be forwarded to the association’s headquarters at Wellington for consideration at the annual conference of South African veterans, to be held shortly.
The feasibility of a conference with the Returned Soldiers’ Association on tho repoi't was also mooted and will be considered later. Several cases of members requiring financial assistance were dealt with. Final arrangements were made for the annual reunion of veterans, which will be held on Friday, June 6.
