ACCLIMATISATION WORK
EXTERMINATING AGED BIRDS Complaint against the action of a number of settlers in excluding sportsmen from their properties was made at a general meeting- of the Waitemata Acclimatisation Club, held at Takapuna on Thursday evening. The question of the large proportion of. aged hen pheasants in the district was discussed and it was agreed that ways and means for their extermination was necessary. The question of the affiliation with the club of a gun club which was being formed in the district was deferred until a deputation from the new body should be present to discuss the question.
The club lias issued 26 shooting licences, in addition to those issued by the Post Office. Sportsmen reported that birds were more plentiful than last year.
Five new members were enrolled and Mr. F. Haden was appointed a committee member.
