HOSPITAL CIRCLE i OF VICTORIA LEAGUE GIRLS’ COMMITTEE Miss Daphne Rainger, whose wedding will take place next month, was the guest of honour at a jolly little bridge party given on Thursday afternoon by the members of the Hospital Circle of the Victoria League Girls’ Committee. Lovely bronze-gold chrysanthemums were arranged in bowls •in the room and made a charming show. During the afternoon Mrs. L. S. WOMEN’S RESERVE
ACTIVITIES OF THAMES BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING A list of 'causes helped by the Thames branch of the Women’s National Reserve was disclosed» at the annual meeting which has just been held. Donations have been made to the Thames Rugby Union £5, Fire Brigade Reel Fund <£s, Mayor’s Earthquake Fund £2 2s; residential nursery (Wellington) £3 3s, seat in children’s play ground £5, hospital library £4 10s, Maternity Annexe and Qld People’s Homes £ll 10s, monthly drives for hospital convalescents £lO 10s, magazines for hospital £ 5 2s 6d, Anzac Day wreath £1 Is.
In addition to this the reserve each year sees that not a patient in the hospital. goes without a Christmas present. On another occasion the reserve conducted a street stall and raised £32 15s lid for the Jubilee Institute for the Blind.

Mt. Albert Grammar Old Bovs’ Dance
ANNUAL FUNCTION DECORATION IN SCHOOL COLOURS The sixth annual dance of the Old Boys’ Association was held in the Mount Albert Boys’ Grammar School Hall last evening. The artistic decorations were carried out in blue and gold and from a basket of streamers in the centre were suspended long streamers which were looped over to the walls and gallery. ! The stage was prettily decorated with latticed streamers and on the wall at the back was the school shield which was so lighted as to give a sun-ray effect on the wall. Supper was served upstairs where the tables were decorated with golden chrysanthemums and blue hydrangeas. Among those present were: - Mrs. F. W. Gamble was frocked in beige georgette and lace. Mrs. G. W. Mcßride wore a gown of black crepe satin and silver lace. Mrs. J. H. Kin near was wearing a black georgette frock with a Persian figured lame coatee. Mrs. W. Ward-Baker's frock was of gold lame with a black and poppy red satin coat. Mrs. Coleman chose a gown of black georgette. Miss Nota Casey was in turquoise blue georgette, with a beaded coatee. - Miss B. Buttle had on cameo pink taffeta. Miss 11. Bowles wore apricot-georgette appliqued with taffeta flowers. Miss P. Aicken wore a gown of azure blue taffeta. Miss. G. Hayward was in midnight blue georgette, with pink taffeta hip bow. Miss. Selkirk was gowned in buttercup crepe de chine. Miss W. Whitehead had chosen a froclc of primrose flowered taffeta. Miss Brodie- was gowned in flesh pink taffeta. . Miss S. Beale chose a frock of cream floral taffeta and tulle. Miss G. McMilliin had chosen an anklelength cyclamen taffeta frock. *r> Miss B. Graham’s frock - was of lacquer red embossed chenille georgette. Cameo pink georgette and lace were worn by Miss McCalum. Miss Watts had on a scarlet georgette gown. Miss Joyce Knight was frocked in ceil blue crepe de chine. Miss Myrtle Bain had chosen a gown of leaf green floral taffeta. MisS Kathleen Aicken was gowned in forrest green floral georgette. , Miss Peggy Stewart wore a dainty I frepk of forrest green georgette, i Miss Woods (Rotorua) chose a gown I of shell pink crepe satin. ! Miss Jean Mclntosh wore black georgette and tulle. Miss Ada Somerville was gowned in cubon orange georgette. Miss McGowan was wearing a mist pink chiffon frock. # Miss J'. Murray had on azure blue georgette. Miss Lore chose a frock of apple green georgette relieved with gold , lace. Miss P. Foubister was wearing while charmeuse with a scarlet shoulder spray. Miss Buyer’s gown was of floral silver lame and georgette. Miss Morgan was in a firefly gebr'gette gown.
A dance frock of ivory ring velvet was chosen by Miss Vaile.
Miss Freda Coyte wore a gown of sun ;et pink moire satin.
Miss Maginess wore a pretty frock of leaf green floral taffeta.
Miss McPherson chose a gown of cobalt blue frilled georgette. Miss L. Coyte was in pale lemon embossed taffceta. Miss Mavis Hewson’s frock was of sedge green embossed chenille georgette. Miss D. Garrett Avas goAvned in pale yellow floral ninon.

GOMING-OF-AGE IS CELEBRATED A very jolly evening was spent at the Orphans’ Hall, Onehunga, to celebrate the coming of age of Miss Ruby Boddy. The hall was artistically decorated with mauve and pink streamers, and gaily-coloured balloons. The supper tables were daintily arranged Avith bowls of autumn floAvers. | PATIENTS IN CHILDREN’S WARD ARE ENTERTAINED BY HOSPITAL AUXILIARY Hospital patients of the children’s ward 23 were entertained at a concert arranged by Mrs. Raeburn and Mr. A. Hamblin, of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, on Friday evening. Items were given by Misses Burley/ King, Hutchinson, Goldsmith. Shenkin, Tye, Mrs. Edwards, Miss Richardson and Miss Burton.
FIRST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED BY ALBANY INSTITUTE
FAREWELL TO MRS. DORMAN The Coronation Tlall at Albany presented quite a festive appearance on the occasion of the first birthday of the Albany Womens Institute on May 7. Bowls of autumn flowers and foliage decorated the tea tables and platform. There was a good attendance of members, and after the business >vas disposed of, a very pleasing programme of elocutionary items, songs and music was provided by Mrs. Arthur Griffiths and Miss Edna Craig. The president, Mrs. B. Dickson, presented the prizes won at the recent flower show, and acknowledged the gift of a photograph of the late president, Mrs. Bruton, from Mr. Bruton and family, and the gift of a cheque from Mrs. Walwin Smith. A largenumber of visitors was present from the neighbouring institutes of Greenliithe, Birkdale and Silverdale, and advantage of the occasion was taken to wish bon voyage to Mrs. Dudley Dorman, who is leaving for Norfolk Island. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Gardiner, Richards and Powell, assisted by Mesdames H. Dixon, Schofield, Stevenson, and Miss Hooton.
