“STANDARD LIFTED”
IMPROVEMENT IN BUSINESS “Largely through the influence of past leaders the standard of the real estate profession had been steadily lifted, and the stage has now been reached when the public realises that agents do all they can to give an honest deal.” said Mr. T. Mclndoe, presidentelect. at the annual meeting of the Auckland Realy Estate Institute last evening.
The legal profession acted in cooperation with agents and made every effort to draw up agreements in such a way that both parties realised the terms and were forced to abide by them, said Mr. Mclndoe. It had to be remembered that agents were expected, and were normally bound to protect the interests of both the purchaser and the seller.
“Business has been difficult during most of the year, but in the last few months it has shown a real improvement, particularly in the demand for farming lands,” said the speaker.
Officers were elected as follow': President, Mr. T. Mclndoe; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. M. G. C. Ernest and Stace E. Bennett: committee, Messrs. P. Balgarme. A. V. Burcher, H. K. Clayton, A. Evans, P. J. Crump, A. F. Frater, H. Hadfield, J. M. Jackson, G. F. Mellars and S. Rickards; secretary, Mr. W. J. A. Thomson; auditor, Mr. C. F. Sanders; representative on Chamber of Commerce Council, Mr. W. J. Potter; board of benevolence, Messrs. G. B. Osmond, P. J. Crump and Stace E. Bennett.
During the evening items were given by Mr. Alan McElwain and the Revellers’ Orchestra.
