PENALTY FOR SERVICE-CAR OWNERS A prosecution said to be the first of its kind was brought against the proprietors of a service-car. in the Papakukra Police Court on Wednesday. On the information of Inspector E. H. Barrett, of the Main Highways Board. Holman and Beckett, Ltd., were charged with failing to carry a plate on the right-hand side of their service-car show’ing the unladen weight. The inspector did not press for a penalty, stating that the case was the first of its kind. All service-cars would he compelled to have the plate attached after June 1. Mr. F. H. Levien. S.M.. convicted the defendant company, and ordered the payment of 10s costs.
