The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Waihi Gold Mining Company: For the period ended May 3. comprising IS£ crushing days, 15,086 tons of ore were crushed for a result of .">.163 fine ounces of gold an' 1 28.700 fine • ainces of silver; this includes 1,132 tons mined from the Grand Junction area, which yielded 541 ounces of gold and 9,771 ounces of silver; also 70 ounces of gold and 171 ounces of silver from residues from the site of the old Waihi mill.

In the No. 9 level of the Martha Lode driving oast of the 440 ft crosscut, the first 30 feet assays 11s 6d a ton. In the No. 10 level of the Martha Lode, east of the boundary crosscut, driving was done for 15 feet east of the 100 ft crosscut in quartz ot little or no value, the north wall being seen. Driving is suspended here and a new drive commenced east on the south wall. In the No. 11 level of the Martha Lode, driving west, the next 11 feet is of little or no value. The lode was crosscut at 54 feet and, measuring from the south wall, the first four feet assays 12s 9d a ton, and the last 16 feet is of little or no value. In the Empire Lode, south section, west of Bath crosscut, we are crosscutting north at 73 feet. In the No. 13 level of the Martha Lode, east of Williams’s south-east crosscut, at 38 feet the assay value is 9s Gd a ton, westward at 25 feet the assay value is 63s a ton, and at 33 feet 12s 3d a ton.

Gisborne Gas Year A net profit of £3,239, approximately 5.1 per cent, of its paid-up capital is shown in the annual report and balance-sheet of the Gisborne Gas Company for the year ended March 31 last. The directors recommend payment of the usual dividend at the rate of 8 per cent, on the preference issue and a final dividend of 6d a share on the ordinaries, making a total of 5 Per cent, for the year. The sum of £1,572 is carried forward at the credit of profit and loss.
