MOTORIST FINED £2O
INTOXICATED IN CAR Press Association PALMERSTON N., Thursday. A charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car was preferred in the Police Court yesterday against Claude Rusher, a cook. Accused was fined £2O and had his licence cancelled for 12 months. The police said defendant was en route from Waipukurau to Wanganui, and when passing Mangaone Bridge on the Rangitikei line an accident occurred. The car was found extensively damaged, having apparently somersaulted once or twice. Rusher appeared to be in a drunken condition. Counsel for the defence said trouble with the steering-gear caused the accident. Accused denied that he was under the influence of liquor, but admitted having had drink.
