MISS JOHNSON’S PLANE FIXED AT RANGOON RETURN TRIP DISCUSSED United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright \ Reed. 10.5 a.m. RANGOON, Wed. An examination of Miss Amy Johnson’s plane this morning showed that the damage was not serious. The wheel, fuselage, and wing fabrics are being repaired locally. Miss Johnson is the guest of the principal of the Shaw Institute. If all goes well, she intends to undertake a return flight in a fortnight’s time. SMITH AND SHIERS SHIP PLANE TO SYDNEY Reed. 10!35 a.m. DARWIN, Today. The New South Wales airmen, Smith and Shiers, have arrived by steamer. Their airplane is being shipped to Sydney, and another attempt will later be made to fly to England. A message from Sydney says that if Miss Amy Johnson succeeds in reaching Darwin, she is to have an escort of several airplanes, chiefly from the Queensland and Northern Territory Air Service, in order that she may not be exposed to any risks over the treacherous route from Darwin to Longreach. Women’s sports organisations in New South Wales and Victoria are awaiting Miss Johnson’s arrival with particular interest, and they intend to give her a fitting welcome. She is certain to be overwhelmed with hospitality.
