PIONEER’S BIRTHDAY

HAS LIVED 70 YEARS IN AUCKLAND MRS. E. R. TAYLOR After living nearly 70 years in Auckland, Mrs. E. R. Taylor, of Parnell, will celebrate her 92nd birthday today. Mrs. Taylor, who was born at Kingsclare, Hampshire, came to New Zealand in the sailing vessel Black Eagle. She has lived in Auckland ever since. For 30 years Mrs. Taylor was a solo singer in the Auckland Choir, and she has retained a keen interest in music. Her husband, who died 25 years ago. was connected with Firth’s flourmill, which occupied the position in Queen Street where Winstone’s Btiilding now stands. Of Mrs. Taylor’s family there are three daughters and three sons still living. They are Mrs. George Robinson, of Remuera, Mrs. F. H. Leonard, of Papatoetoe, and Mrs. Spraggon, of Devonport; Messrs. F. J. Taylor and L. J. Taylor, of Christchurch, and H. B. Taylor, of Te Kuiti.
