£40,000 FOR CHARITY

MR. GEORGE MITCHELL'S WILL | CHRISTCHURCH BEQUESTS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A number of Christchurch charitable organisations will benefit to the extent of about £40,000 through the will of the late Mr. George Mitchell, formerly of Christchurch, who died at Governor’s Bay on April 25. The charitable bequests are subject to certain prior bequests and annuities. On the death of the last annuitant the estate will be divided into five pans. It is expected that the total then available for distribution will be about £40,000. Two o?f the five parts are to be paid to the Salvation Army, the income to be applied in assisting women patients whose first babies are born at the Salvation Army Maternity Home in Christchurch. Assistance is to be given to the mothers when they leave the institution. Two parts of the total are to be paid to the Canterbury Hospital Board, the income to be used in providing extra comforts for inmates of the Jubilee Home, Woolston. The other part will go to the trustees of the Presbyterian Girls’ Orphanage, to assist girls leaving the institution to make their way in life.
