SERVICES OF AUCKLANDERS RECOGNISED PRESENTATIONS BY GOVERNOR Five members of the Auckland division of the St. John Ambulance wer» invested with insignia of the order by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, on behalf of his Royal Highness the Duke of York, at Government House tliis morning. Mr. C. J. Tunks, M.8.E.. was presented with the insignia of a Knight of Grace of the Order, the Rev. G. E. Moreton was made a chaplain. Mr. W. Rattray a Commander, and Mr. F. J. Hutchinson and Ur. A. N. McKelvey, Officers. The investitures were for services to the community. His Excellency was attended by her t Excellency. Sir John Hanham and ; Lieutenant Elworthy. A.D.C.'s. The Rev. G. E. Moreton, who has ! been appointed chaplain of the Order • of St. John of Jerusalem, was associI ated with the origin of the joint Red Cross and St. John organisation which did great work in New Zealand during the war period. In 1914 he became a. member of the Dunedin centre and in | 1915 was twice a delegate to conferences with the Governor-General, Lord Liverpool, regarding Red Cross work. . Slnco his first interest in the order Mr, Moreton has been an indefatigable I worker. The Duke of York is Grand Prior of the Venerable Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
