STRAND
LAST DAYS OF “PARIS” The First National and Vitaphone production, “Paris,” now in its last days at the Strand Theatre, is the last word in gorgeousness, colour and music, and brings to the screen the outstanding luminary of the musical comedy world, Irene Bordoni, and also Jack Buchanan, famous musical comedy star of the English stage. Paris, with its joyous songs and its gorgeous gowns, is a colour production, and is accompanied by a full programme of talkie supports. The highly entertaining plot of Colleen Moore’s newest talking picture, “Footlights and Fools,’*, develops such complications that two leading men were required for the cast of this First National and Vitaphone comedydrama, which comes to the Strand Theatre shortly. Raymond Hackett and Frederic* March were selected by producer John McCormick for these conspicuous roles, and as the story progresses, the opinion of the audience is divided as to which will be the winner in th» romance. Not until the very end of th® picture can one be certain whether Hackett or March is the hero. Both Hackett and March are recent recruits from the stage, but each has distinguished himself in talking pictures. Hackett is regarded as an exceptional actor because of his portrayals in “The Trial of Mary Dugan” arid “Madame X,” while March ! attained equal prominence in “The i Dummy” and “The Wild Party.” Others who play conspicuous roles are "Virginia Lee Corbin, Edward Martindel, Mickey Bennett, Adrienne d’Ambricourt, Frederic Howard. Cleve Moore and -Andy Rice, junr.
