“PUTTIN’ ON THE RITZ” The film at the Plaza Theatre, “Puttin' on the Ritz," is United Artists biggest talking, musical production to date. In addition to the presence of Harry Richman. who is possibly the most popular singer and comedian on j Broadway, the picture boasts a score of spectacular features. Irving Berlin cut short a trip to Europe in order to return to Hollywood. He wrote a number of original songs for the picture, and acted in an advisory capacity during its filming. The large cast supporting Richman includes Joan Bennett, Aileen Pringle, James Gleason. Lilyan Tashman, Richard Tucker, Purnell Pratt, Eddie Kane, and others. Edward Sloman directed the picture, which is based on an original screen story by John W. Considine.
