DERATING FARM LANDS
PROPOSAL DENOUNCED Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The Land Values League denounces the proposal to derate farm lands on the ground that, once adopted, it would extend to borough lands and the Customs would have to make up the deficiency. It is claimed that the revenue from land is already so depleted that it produces barely £1,500,000, which is less than three times what the ratepayers of Wellington City a one have to pay.
