WORST FOR YEARS
BRITAIN’S OVERSEAS TRADE FALLS OFF EXPORTS DROP MILLIONS Reed. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The overseas trade returns lor April are the worst for several years. Imports totalled £83,992,000, which is £9,498,000 lesr than the March figures, and £20,206,000 less than last April. Exports were £46,561,000, which is £7.054,000 less than March. and £13,382,000 less than last April. The principal decreases are: Imports—grain and flour, £3,186,000; food and drink, non-dutiable, £2,363,000; dutiable, £1,055,000; raw cotton, £3,109,000; raw wool, £4,602,000; oil and seeds, £1,077,000. Exports—lron and steel manufactures, £1,023,000; cotton yarns and manufactures, £4.248,000. Re-exports—Raw wool, £1,140,000.
