UNEMPLOYMENT TROUBLE

ENOUGH OF OUR OWN CANNOT HELP OUTSIDERS Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. The Hon. TV. A. Veiich. Minister of Labour, stated today, that he has sent a message to Australia, through the T.M.C.A. indicating that New Zealand's unemployment problems strain our financial resources to the utmost and therefore we cannot on any account provide relief, either by special works or otherwise for people from outside the Dominion. “It certainly is no pleasure to me to restrict in any way the benefits that would accrue to Australians who decide to come to New Zealand, but in face of the conditions with which the Government is confronted there is no other means open, and I feel sure the good people in Australia will realise this,” said the Minister.
