£5,000 A WEEK
A SUPER SHOW ATTRACTION AND A SUPER SALARY No question about it, the American motor trade doesn’t “miss a hit” when it comes to attractions. At the Pacific • Automobile Show, held in Safi Francisco recently. Maurice Chevalier was the “featured entertainer.” For which the French stage-film star was paid 25,000 dollars tor the week. And, in case your arithmetic is not up to the mark, 25,000 dollars is as good as £5,000. Five thousand pounds for a week! But the attendance figures proved that this super salary was good business.
HELPFUL EQUIPMENT Armrests provide additional comfort lor the driver and passengers. In addition the occupants of the seat should be provided with footrests, which, in conjunction with armrests, will save them from being -thrown about on a rough road. Even an apparently simple matter such as the disposition of the facia-board and its instruments is worthy of careful con sideration. The driver should be able to glance momentarily at any essential dial without difficulty. There' is also to be considered the position and design of the doors and their handles. On far too many cars it l squires excessive force to operate the locks, so that unless a door is given a slam almost severe enough to shake the body to pieces one cannot be sure than the catch is secure. Handles should be so placed that their inadvertent operation while the car is in motion is rendered unlikely.
