TE AWAMUTU ORPHANS’ CLUB
There was an attendance of about j 140 at the opening of the 1930 season | of the Te Awamutu Orphans' Club on : Saturday evening. The president, Mr. H. A. Sjvarbrick, presided. A hearty welcome was given to Bro. Hampshire and party from Cambridge, to Bro. Hey, senr., of Devonport, and all new members. Bro. Jas. Hanna was heard to advantage in Toselli’s “Serenata” and “The Cobbler’s Song.” The choir (16 vocalists under Bro. J. F. North) opened with “The Soldier’s Farewell,” followed by the sea chanty, “The Wild Goose.” Bro. Hampshire entertained the company with a couple of stories and the humorous song, “The Roast Beef of Old England.” Bro. Bert Hey concluded a capital programme with two specialities, “Colonel IColdfeet” -and ‘A Yokel’s Love Affairs.’’
