BADMINTON
PAPATOETOE CLUB SUCCESSFUL OPENING OF SEASON The newly-formed Papatoetoe Badminton Club held a very successful opening function in the Papatoetoe Town Hall last evening. Visitors were present from the Parnell and Manger© Clubs, and from St. Andrew’s, Otahuhu. In declaring the season open, Mr. T. R. Smytheman congratulated the newly-formed club on the enthuhiastic manner in which the game had been taken up in Papatoetoe. He said that Papatoetoe had been successful in every other sphere of sport, and trusted that the Badminton Club would hold its own with sister clubs. It had been found necessary to limit the membership of the club to 30. During the evening a number of exhibition games were given by the visitors. The officers of the club are: Patron, Mr. A. W. Hall, M.P.; president, Mr. T. R. Smytheman; vice-pre-sidents, Drs. A. B. Jameson, J. J. Valentine, Messrs. A. G. Grinter, F M. Waters and W. Young; secretary Miss G. Grinter; treasurer. Miss R. Wallace; committee, Misses A. Whyte. G. Leonard, Misses T. White, W Wyman, S. Snelling. The hall will be open for play every Monday evening and Saturday afternoon.
