BACKED AND BEATEN

ROYAL FINANCE’S FAILURES Royal Finance was one of the most expensive failures of last week’s Egmont meeting. She was beaten by Brilliant Light on the first day, but her backers came up and stood to her again on the second day, and again she touched a short price. This time she did not do as well as she had done earlier in the; meeting. and was beaten into third place by Paiko and Patearoa. Notwithstanding her defeats at Hawera, Royal Finance has a fair chance of winning a race at "Wanganui. The course there should suit her to a nicety.
