“THIS IS A CHANCE”
YOUNG MAN COMMITTED TO PROBATION FORGED CHEQUE UTTERED Found guilty last week of uttering a ged cheque, and obtaining goods on false pretences, Frank Markovini, aged 22, appeared for sentence in the Supreme Court this morning. He was committed to probation for three years and was ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution. Mr. Leary, who appeared for Markovini in the absence of Mr. Hampson, said that prisoner was a married man with one child. The offence was not of a serious nature and he was certainly not criminally inclined. In view of his youth and previous fine record, he would make a plea for probation. “I shall adopt the suggestion of counsel, although prisoner has been found guilty on two charges,” said his Honour. “This is a chance aryl I hope that he will honour it.”
