PIONEER DIES
OLD MANGERE RESIDENT DEATH THIS MORNING Mrs. Annie McLaughlin, another of Auckland’s pioneers, died at her late residence, Massey Road, Mangere, this morning. Mrs. McLaughlin was born in Dublin in 1838. She came to New Zealand in 1860 and soon afterward married Mr. John McLaughlin, who died some 32 years ago. After their marriage they spent 33 years farming and cropping at Papatoetoe, and on retiring they took up residence in Mangere, where Mrs. McLaughlin had lived ever since. She had continued to take a keen interest in questions connected with the land and up to within two weeks ago might have been seen tending the poultry and cows on her small holding.
Mrs. McLaughlin leaves three daughters, Mrs. Wishart, of Auckland, Mrs. Graham, of Sydney, and Mrs. Pullin, of Whangarei. There are 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchild-ren.
