PROBATION GRANTED

MISSION WORK PRAISED “It is gratifying to know that there is such an agency in Auckland whereby men, particularly of this type, can be watched and cared for,” said Mr. Justice Smith, in the Supreme Court this morning, in answering a plea by the Rev. Jasper Calder that Richard Stanley Sinclair. who appeared for sentence on a charge of indecent assault on a male, should be granted probation In appearing for prisoner. Mr. Xoble said that some years ago Sinclair had met with a bad accident and since then he had been mentally weak. “We have quite a number of similar cases under our care,” said the Rev. Jasper Calder, “and I would ask that this man be granted probation. “Under the circumstances I will grant probation for a period of three years, prisoner to pay the costs of the prosecution,” said his Honour.
