MAYOR IN ACCIDENT
OFFICIAL CAR DAMAGED IN COLLISION MISHAP NEAR TOWN HALL The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. Baildon, was involved in a motor accident this morning and was fortunate to escape injury. His Worship was being driven to the Town Hall in the official car by the city chauffeur. The big car was travelling up Queen Street and opposite the Town Hall, turned across the road to pull up outside the Mayor's office. A service-car running: up behind came into collision with Mr. Baildon’s car, which was damaged. The right running-board and front mudguard were crumpled, but no mechanical damage resulted. After the collision the service-car, which was little affected, swerved over to the down-traffic side and ran back down the hill to strike a standing car before coming to rest. further damage was caused.
