AUCKLAND MERCHANTS’ ADVICES The London butter market has a slightly firmer tone, according to cables received over the past 24 hours. At one point during the week the market dropped to 128 s, but closing quotations show it to be firm at 130 s to 1325. Merchants report receipt of overseas cables as follow: A. H. Turnbull and Cofnpany, from \V. Weddel and Company, London, under date May 9: —Butter, Danish, 130 s to 1345; New Zealand unsalted. 138 s to 1445; salted, 128 s to 1325; market steadier. Cheese, New Zealand white, 82s to 83s; coloured, 87s to 88s; market qufiet. Canadian, white, 98s to 100 s; coloured, 98s. Newton King. Ltd., from R. and W. Davidson, Ltd., dated May 9: —Butter: The market is quietly steady; salted, 128 s to 1325; unsalted, -138 s to 144 s Cheese: The market is quiet; coloured, 88s to S7s; white, 82s to 83s, up to 84s. TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE Th 6 New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Hamilton, report: At our Te Awamutu sale on Thursday we submitted a good entry of fat, store and young cattle to a good attendance of buyers, sheep and pigs being penned in average numbers. Prices for beef showed a slight improvement on late rates. Light fat bullocks made £11; good quality fat cows, £9 to £10; fat cows, £ 8 to £S 12s 6d: light fat cows, £6 15s to £7 16s; killable cows. £5 10s to £6: store cows, £4 2s 6d to £4 Ids; boner cows £2 17s 6d to £3 10s; weaner Jersey heifers, £ 3 3s to £3 19s: others. £1 ISs to £2 13s; dairy heifers, £ 9 to £9 ss; bulls. £3 to £4 10s; fat ewes. £1; fat lambs, 19s Gd; ewes in lamb, 19s. Porkers made £2 2s to £2 ss: stores £1 5s to £1 9s 6d; smaller stores, ISs to £ 1 2s; slips, 12s to 16s: weaners, 6s to 10s.
