STAMP-TAX AND SUPER-TAX IN VICTORIA CURE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT MELBOURNE, Thursday. I The Unemployment Relief Bill was read a second time in the Vic torian Legislative Assembly today. It pro vides for the imposition of a stamp tax on wages of one penny in the pound a week on all incomes to £312 a year, and for a super-tax on a sliding scale on all incomes between £312 and £5,000 a year. Under the Bill persons who receive £SOO a year would pay 50s a vear; £7OO, 84s; £I,OOO, £7; £1,500, £ls; £2,000, £24; £3,000, £39, in addition to ordinary income-tax. It is proposed that the bill should be in operation for 12 months.
