PARNELL SEAT
OFFICIAL COUNT ON MONDAY SCRUTINY OF ROLLS The scrutiny of the Parnell rolls commenced last evening, and it is expected that the official announce* ment of the result of the by-election will be made about the middle of next week. Until the official count is begun, probably on Monday, the absentee, postal and seamen’s votes which were cast, will remain sealed, and only then "will it be known* what bearing they will have on the totals of the respective candidates. These vote*, however, cannot affect the respective positions of the candidates. The writ is returnable not later than May 21. Upon the completion of the official count the returning officer v'llj inscribe the name of The successful candidate upon the writ. Until all the formalities have been completed the seat, officially speaking, has not been filled. The successful candidate, Mr. . r Endean, has been in receipt of many congratulatory messages. He leaves today upon a week’s holiday.
