WIZARD SMITH’S RECORD
NOT UPHELD BY R.A.C. RULES NOT OBEYED Press Association WELLINGTON, Thursday. The claim by Mr. Norman (Wizard) Smith to have made a 10-mile world motor speed record on the XinetyMile Beach, Ivaitaia, in January, has not been upheld by the Royal Automobile Club. The English publication “The Motor,” of March, states that the international regulations covering attempts on world and international class records require that all records up to 10 miles shall be automatically timed by apparatus registering to within l-100th of a second; and if attempted on a straight course the distance shall be covered in both directions. As these conditions were not complied with the Royal Automobile Club is not able to submit the claim for recognition.
