WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF RECEIVING HUSBAND ACQUITTED Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The trial of Norman Eric Walker on charges of the theft of linen, cutlery and crockery from the Anchor Shipping Company, concluded in the Supreme Court today when Walker was acquitted. He was also acquitted of a charge made jointly against him and his wife of receiving the goods. fpHE Judge said it appeared that as far as the mal4 accused was concerned, the evidence was mainly that he was the husband of the female accused and was frequently at her house. It was very doubtful in his mind if it would be safe to convict him. Of Mrs. Walker, however, His Honour said she must have known what she was doing. Mrs. Walker was found guilty of receiving, with a strong recommendation to mercy. She was fined £ 100 and costs £24 Bs, in default six months’ imprisonment. She was given 14 days in which to pay.
